Books were the easiest places for me to rest my wandering mind; they didn’t judge me. They offered the perfect distraction.

My reading target for the year was 70 books, and God being so good, I was able to read 71 (inserts applause).

This year, I deliberately pushed myself to read more fiction/novels and “my goodness”…I had no idea there was entire world I’d been missing because of my intense loyalty towards self-help/motivational books. I saw parts of myself in some characters and felt their joys, sorrows, and hope right alongside them.

My Top 5 Novels :
The manual for good wives -Lola Jaye
• Lessons in Chemistry Bonnie Garmus
• Yellow faceR.F Kuang
• Love in Colour : especially the first story
• The Authenticity project Clare Pooley

My Top 3 comfort books
These were books that felt like a warm hug, easygoing, and gentle company.

Love , theoretically /  Love on the brainAli Hazelwood (I love the cringy romance. Hit me with it. )
Before we forget kindness – Toshikazu Kawaguchi
A gentle reminder – Bianaca Sparacino

Top 3 Difficult books to read
The Metamorphosis – Franz Kafka
This was truly a book with a solid measure of disgust; painful to read. I hoped on a miracle for Gregor Samsa, but none came.

The 71/2 deaths of Evelyn Heard castle Stuart Turton
(There were so many things happening at the same time. It was hard keeping up with the characters)

Dream CountChimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Top 2 Nonfiction

101 Essays that will change the way you think – Bianca Sparacino
(I keep finding my way back to this book. This was my third read and I don’t think I have had enough yet)
Tiny experiments – Anne Laure Le Cunff
Yes! Yes!

DNF Books (Did not finish)

Radical Acceptance – Tara Branch
The Everyday Hero ManifestoRobin Sharma
(These were non-fiction books, which honestly I felt I’d had enough of)
Remarkably Bright Creatures – Shelby Van Pelt

And next year? I’d like to slow down a bit, so I’ll be cutting down my target to something that lets me live in the present world and maybe smell some flowers.
