I started writing/making lists of reminders some years ago(my earliest recall is junior high school). It was just before final examinations, and I’ve continued to do so since then, although not consistently. I’d use any opportunity to make a list.

This list was coined from different sources – quotes from books I read last year, sayings by poets, as well as my own experiences.

We can have so much going on during certain times that we ‘forget’ what we had set out to do. We’re human. We may get out of touch with ourselves and become frustrated at times. No journey is always smooth. In times like that, a good word can become a balm to our bruises or a propeller to start again-to find inspiration. This has been the case for me.

A good reminder refreshes me and, like a change of environment, it gives me a fresh perspective.
Hopefully, this list might come in handy for you at a time when you need it.

  • May your choices reflect your HOPES, not your fears. ~ Nelson Mandela

  • You have nobody to prove wrong other than yourself. The growth is yours. The change is yours.

  • If you can say nothing of yourself,  say that you were brave.

  • Sometimes, giving something a chance is the only way to know if it will work out for you. We can not accurately predict the success or failure of everything until we start( I don’t want to live a life regretting not taking actions in moments where I was required to be brave).

  • Nothing in my life will change until I do.

  • If we look backward with the specific intent of moving forward, we can converts our regrets into fuel for progress. ~ Daniel H. Pink

  • We’re all going to die, all of us, what a circus! That alone should make us love each other, but it doesn’t. We are terrorized and flattened by trivialities. We are eaten up by nothing .~ Charles Bukowski

I’m fond of this quote, although it makes me a little sad. It’s a radical call to live a meaningful life, to love more, and to spend less time with things that wouldn’t matter tomorrow.

The above is subjected to change at any point in time, depending on the circumstances. I do hope that you found at least one of these reminders enlightening. Don’t hesitate to share any reminders or motivation or anything at all that you’re taking into the year.
