Whatever it was that got me by
whatever helped me closed my eyes at night
I held on to that
On days when the nights dragged on and on
And the voices go mute
And the cold night air is filled with snores
I’ve woken up drenched in sweat
Because the nightmares won’t go away
I’ve held through by looking beyond
Knowing that a burst of orange light will be sighted in the sky soon
And the birds will chirp
And there will be an awakening
So however long the night
I hold on to this
That soon, the dawn breaks
