It’s no strange thing that we honour the things that enforce a change in our lives. That we hail those that leave imprints in our lives.It’s essential, after all to give due credit where necessary.
I have almost always analysed my fears from one perspective; the negative.They were detrimental.Crippling.Pathetic.An ugly emotion.I looked back at the journey and roads taken and saw them tainted with fear. I saw a barely recognizable being remolded into a shadow of her true self.I was a victim of losses, and to her orders, I complied. So my acknowledgements goes to my fears. They’ve always been there, doing an excellent job of keeping me ashore when I could set sail, lingering in every decision I made.After so many years of diligently serving my captor, I realigned my perspectives and have seen that out of these ashes; there was an emergence. A bursting forth of strength I didn’t believe I possessed. I saw that what I tagged as evil held a well of goodness.Being aware of the fears, I strived to eliminate them completely. This I did by avoidance. The best way I handled any form of offense which of course, yielded little results. So I learnt to face them, armed with faith and hope.I reminded myself to keep walking on days my legs wouldn’t budge. I scribbled words on days I couldn’t find my voice. The days I didn’t dare to be heard. I closed my eyes each night, fully aware of the horrors lurking behind my eyes. The remnants of times agone.I tried several times despite the failures knowing that sometimes we win but other times we learn.Oh! My fears haven’t dissipated. They’re still here, alright. Rearing their heads from time to time. But amidst the fears, I lean towards hope. Hope is powerful enough!
