March has been a strange month, feeling simultaneously long and short. It left me with a sense of emptiness and clutter, and a constant struggle with a heavy feeling.
Entertainment Break
I’ve been enjoying the talking cat reels that have been trending on IG. It does it for me. Honestly. I’ve been feeling heavy and tense for a couple of weeks in March, and they were one thing that cheered me up.

Sugar restriction/Saturday morning walks
I attempted a sugar restriction in March. I can not say that I did exemplary well. However, I did manage to cut out fizzy drinks and soft drinks in general but mostly fizzy drinks. I’m a sucker for carbonated drinks. I tried reducing the amount of sugar in my cereals, too. I started Saturday morning brisk walks( because jogging is going to discourage me quickly), and these have been so refreshing. It’s just a great way to start my weekend. I’m hoping I can increase it to at least twice a week.
Literary Delight
I stumbled upon a book series this year called ‘Before the Coffee Gets Cold’ by Japanese author Toshikazu Kawaguchi. I loved these books. The themes are the same throughout. This is a tale about a small coffee shop that has a seat that can allow you to travel in time – either to the past or to the future. The books are more than merely time-centred. It explores humanity’s desire for closure and redemption and to make things right.
It’s a soulful book with many heartfelt stories. The books give a history of each character and their reason for wanting to time travel. Time travelling in the coffee shop comes with a few hard rules that must be met. The catch here is that the present doesn’t change after travelling to the past/future. I believe the heart does. That’s what the novel shows us.
Concerns about increased social vice
There’s been a heightened rise in social vices…armed robbery…and the lot. Honestly, it’s been a bit untethering. I think mass communication and cautionary tips on all media would be helpful this time. I also believe that the leaders should tighten security services to catch these vices. People caught too should be made an example out of. It’s a hard world out there… going in and out, and now I have to be extra worried because of someone’s terrible decisions?
From Isolation to Connection: Embracing Shared Vulnerability
I shared a few grievances with about two friends, and to my surprise, they shared similar experiences of their own. I don’t know, but it was a big relief to know that.
In times of difficulty, I am reminded of the remarkable resilience of the human spirit and how essential it is to come together as a community. I think of those who have shown immense courage and fortitude amid chaos and confusion.
How did March go for you?
